Hibernation is a feature of an operating system which allows the contents of RAM to be written to the hard disk, before powering off the computer. When
the computer is started again, it reloads the content of memory and attempts to restore to the same state as it was before shutdown. In Windows 8 the hibernation feature is disabled by default. If you want to enable the hibernation feature then follow the below tutorial
- Click the control panel tiles from the Windows 8 Start Screen
- Then click More Settings in the Control Panel
- This will open the old control panel and click Power Options
- In the power options page, on the left side, click on Choose what the power button does
- Once you click on the button, you will be taken to Power button Define Page
- Then click on the Change settings that are currently unavailable
- Next under the Power option settings, you can check the box which shows Show hibernate
- Then Save the changes you made
- After saving the changes, you can now see Hibernate option under the shutdown button
If you want to disable the hibernation feature just uncheck the Show hibernate box under Power option settings section
