Consumer is the king in the Product market or its service. A product or its service must be of high standard of quality for consumer to utilize. If any deficiency in quality or service is found against set norms one can approach the consumer court to get justice. Before filing a case against the manufacturer or service provider the consumer must know the rules and regulation to follow accordingly to approach.
Steps to Handle a Case in Consumer Court
- Evidence based case must have to file
- As per value of goods or compensation one has to approach District forum for upto 20 lacs, for State Forum more than 20 lacs to upto 1 crore and more than 1 crore one has to approach National Commission
- Expenses also based on value of goods or compensation as
upto 1 lakh Rs.100
1 lakhs to 5 lakhs Rs.200
5 Lakhs to 10 Lakhs Rs.400
10 lakhs to 20lacs Rs.500
Fees can be paid in the form of DD/Indian Postal order in Favor of “President, respective Forum”
Do’s and Don’ts
- Do file the case when deficiency is clear
- Do mention the name, address, description of the complainant
- Do mention the name of the opposite party or parties who has not rendered service as per set norms
- Do mention time & place of service failure
- Do keep a supporting document
- Do not file a case only for personal benefit
- Do not file a case without evidence and clear information
- Do not just file a case and forget
