people move to facebook because of its quality and security. For this reason some people want to remove their account from orkut permanently. But the process is different. At the time of removing, the orkut account is asking for password

1. Go to Orkut website and login to your orkut account by putting your user name and password
2. Then Click Settings at the top of the page
3. From the Orkut Settings window click on the General tab
4. Next click on the Remove my orkut account
5. You’ll be taken to a page that gives further instructions and a link to remove my account
6. Clicking this link will redirect you to the Remove orkut page of your Google Account
7. Click Yes, I want to permanently remove orkut from my Google account check box
8. Then enter your password and click Remove orkut

Your orkut profile will removed within 24 hours. It can’t be recovered, but your Google Account will remain active
